The Pitt crew had a unique challenge - how to take two years to close down the manufacturing part of the business without losing business in that time. They showed it can be done with compassion, energy, humour, and creativity.
They harnessed the natural human emotion of “What about Me” and turned that into “It is all about Me”
We were very impressed with the degree of creative energy and passion of the Pitt Crew who came up with pragmatic answers to both organisational and personal issues. It is important to be aware that this team undertook this massive task knowing that they too faced the same outcomes as their departing colleagues.
A paradoxical dilemma for the team was the need to recruit, train and motivate staff during the period to achieve the business goals before closure date.
The change has been positive for the 160 staff that have exited the business and for those who remain they are positively engaged and better equipped to meet the future challenges. As at last week 92% of those who left have gained new employment and all have gained new skills and greater confidence.
